Concept

We want to create a photo shoot, in an outdoor setting; we want it to look very urban and aged. Our model will be female. She will look very feminine and innocent with long hair allowing us to style it up. We have been inspired by Alexander McQueen’s autumn/winter collection, as the models had really extravagant high hair, this fits well with our concept of Highs and Heights. Our Historical theme is going to be Edwardian, to achieve this in the shoot we will dress our model in a high necked lace top with a floral skirt, accessorised with lace tights. The makeup will be plain and natural; we want the skin to be pale and porcelain looking, with a deep crushed cherry shade on the lips. The colour palette for our shoot will be very neutral taken from the models styling through to our rich green and sky blue surroundings.

We started looking at sky scrapers, and from this we looked at the original King Kong film which was released in the 1930's. From researching further into this era we noticed certain aspects of fashion that became really inspiring to us. We liked the 30's era because of the feminie clothes and how they complimented the female figure. This then lead us to look into the edwardian era which was 1900s, so we took our history research even further. We found we became more inspired and influenced by the edwardian era than the 1930s, due to the use of delicate lace and high volume hair styles, which we found fitted into our height concept better, research and imagery we had already found. So we decied to go for the edwardian era for our history part of the concept.

We want to keep our photo shoot very natural looking; we are having the photo shoot outdoors, in the woodlands. We want to contrast our model with the Highs and Heights of our surroundings. We will also experiment with the shoot being in front of an old brick wall to bring the Edwardian element in. The shoot will take place on a sunny day, so we can get the perfect dewy lighting for our vogue cover.

Shop Display/ Interior Ideas

Le Chien Et Moi – Derby Road, Nottingham

We were inspired by this shop and its diverse mix of unusual and beautiful things, old and new, set in a inspiring and nostalgic environment….

Old shop cabinets adorn the walls and worn carpenters workbenches are scattered with hard to find objects. Wares include an ever changing collection of covetable antique, vintage and recycled pieces for the home and garden, complemented by new products with traditional roots: hand built Italian bicycles, French linens and scents, mouth blown glassware, letterpress stationery, handmade ceramics, jewellery from Japan and New York and an intriguing selection of uncommon books.

We feel the shop displays and interior settings of this shop fit with our concept well and create the antique, nostalgic story telling aspect of our concept.

We thought that this shop window would fit in with our concept, as it is vintage, and some of the clothes look edwardian.

Window Display

Like the way the clothes are pinned up high on a washing line very simple but effective

Hair and Make-Up

We had a hair and make-up trainee to do the hair and make-up on our model, it worked really well with her she was able to understand our concept and what we wanted to achieve.
My photos haven't come out as well as the Proffesionals.

Shoes

We chose to use these boots as they fit well with our Edwardian theme. Our model will be wearing a high waisted skirt so short ankle boots weren't going to make her legs look short.
